  • OSHA Issues Wood Dust Enforcement Guidance

    The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued more realistic guidance to field inspectors looking at accumulations of wood dust. The new guidance provides explicit instruction on how to address dusts, such as wood, with bulk densities of less than 75 lb/ft3.

  • AWC applauds final BioPreferred Program regulations

    WASHINGTON – American Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Robert Glowinski has issued the following statement regarding the final issuance of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) BioPreferred Program regulations today. The 2014 Farm Bill states that forest products, previously considered to be ineligible because they were "mature market," are now eligible products to be recognized in USDA biobased programs.

    WASHINGTON — A leading coalition of forest owners, wood suppliers and manufacturers of pulp and paper goods announced today the creation ofBiomass101.org, a clearinghouse for scientifically sound information on carbon-neutral bioenergy. Biomass101 is an effort jointly produced by the American Forest & Paper Association, American Wood Council, Forest Resources Association, and National Alliance of Forest Owners.
