• AWC, AF&PA respond to EPA's federal ozone standard review

    WASHINGTON – The American Wood Council (AWC) and the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) are concerned about today's proposal by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that the federal ozone standard be tightened to between 65 and 70 ppb from the current level of 75 ppb set in 2008.

  • AWC supports House passage of "Secret Science Reform Act"

    WASHINGTON – American Wood Council President and CEO Robert Glowinski issued the following statement on the passage of H.R. 4012, the "Secret Science Reform Act of 2014," by the U.S. House of Representatives. If enacted, the bill would require the Environmental Protection Agency to use reproducible science and disclose all information used in its decision before finalizing regulations.

  • 2015 Wood-Frame Construction Manual standard approved by ANSI

    LEESBURG, VA. – The American Wood Council's 2015 Wood-Frame Construction Manual for One- and Two-Family Dwellings (WFCM) has been approved as an American National Standard by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). WFCM is referenced in the International Code Council's 2015 International Building Code and 2015 International Residential Code (IRC).

  • AWC announces new guide to meet residential energy requirements

    LEESBURG, VA. – The American Wood Council (AWC) has published a new Design for Code Acceptance, "Meeting Residential Energy Requirements with Wood-Frame Construction" or DCA 7. It provides ways to economically meet the residential requirements of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) using wood framing. The guide is offered for free on the AWC website.

  • AWC statement on USGBC extending LEED 2009

Both standards are referenced for compliance with the International Code Council's upcoming 2015 "International Building Code" (IBC).
