WASHINGTON – American Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Robert Glowinski issued the following statement in response to Vicki Christiansen’s appointment as the 19th Chief of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Forest Service. Christiansen has been serving as the Interim Chief since March.

WASHINGTON – American Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Robert Glowinski released the following statement regarding the U.S. House of Representative’s passage of the Resilient Federal Forests Act of 2017 (H.R. 2936). The bill (H.R. 2936) includes the research title of the Timber Innovation Act (H.R. 1380/S. 538), which would establish a performance driven research and development program for advancing the use of innovative wood products in building construction.

LEESBURG, VA. – In recognition of National Forest Products Week (October 19 – 25), the American Wood Council today released a statement about the sustainable benefits of wood materials and its important role in the U.S. economy. Currently, forest products support more than 1 million direct jobs and contributes $100 billion to the U.S. gross domestic product. And with the global marketplace for green building materials expected to reach $529 billion by 2020, support is growing for the use of wood in construction.
