    LEESBURG, VA. – Wood products manufacturing is up 5 percent year-over-year, according to the Federal Reserve Board, as manufacturers continue to respond to high demand. This continues the trend of the industry’s production output at the highest levels since the Great Recession.

    Despite the many challenges presented by the pandemic, wood products manufacturers are responding to the high demand by producing wood products at levels not seen since before the Great Recession. Production output of wood products is the highest it’s been since 2007, according to the Federal Reserve Board.

  • AWC applauds Gov. Scott’s signing of education omnibus bill

    WASHINGTON – American Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Robert Glowinski issued the following statement following Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s signing of the education omnibus bill, HB 7029, into law. The bill allows Florida school districts to modify educational facilities requirements in the state building code upon a 2/3 vote of the school board. These modifications could include allowing the use of wood for interior non-load bearing walls in public educational facilities, which is currently prohibited.

  • AWC applauds final BioPreferred Program regulations

    WASHINGTON – American Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Robert Glowinski has issued the following statement regarding the final issuance of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) BioPreferred Program regulations today. The 2014 Farm Bill states that forest products, previously considered to be ineligible because they were "mature market," are now eligible products to be recognized in USDA biobased programs.

Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.) and Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) have introduced H.R. 5873 – the Forest Products Fairness Act of 2012 – to modify the definition of "biobased" materials to specifically include wood products in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Biobased Markets Program initiatives.
