LEESBURG, VA. – A new position, Manager, Fire Service Relations, with the American Wood Council (AWC) will be filled by Raymond “Ray” O’Brocki, CBO, effective immediately. O’Brocki will create a stronger relationship between AWC and the fire service community.
“The safety of first responders is AWC’s top priority. Ray’s existing relationships with fire service organizations and officials will aid AWC in best understanding the needs and expectations of the fire service for education and technical support on wood products, construction, and fireground considerations,” said AWC President and CEO Robert Glowinski. “For example, construction fires account for less than 1 percent of all fires, but can nonetheless stress local resources, including fire service operations. One of Ray’s duties will be to get training materials and videos on the best practices that can help prevent these fires in front of the right audiences.”
O’Brocki comes to AWC after serving as the Construction Standards Code Enforcement Officer for Prince George’s County (Maryland) Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement. He had previously served in several positions for the Baltimore City Fire Department, including as Assistant Chief; Fire Marshal; and Captain, Investigation and Code Enforcement.
Ray is an International Code Council Certified Building Official. He received his bachelor’s in jurisprudence from the University of Baltimore, and his juris doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
