AWC Statement on CEQ "Climate and Natural Resources Priority Agenda" Released Today

Oct 08, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. – American Wood Council President and CEO Robert Glowinski has issued the following statement regarding the Council of Environmental Quality (CEQ)'s release of their "Climate and Natural Resources Priority Agenda" today.

"CEQ's recommendations echo important facts about the wood products industry. Wood is a renewable resource and a cost-effective building material which helps reduce environmental impacts by storing carbon through its life.

"The agenda outlines a commitment to advancing wood as a building material, which includes encouraging building code changes to allow seven- to 15-story wooden buildings. Wood-frame structures that meet the most current building codes and standards will make communities less vulnerable in the face of extreme events and weather, and provide long-term savings to businesses, households and insurers."
