WASHINGTON – American Wood Council President and CEO Robert Glowinski issued the following statement regarding Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signing Senate Bill (S.B.) 301 into law, allowing greater use of wood materials in public school construction.
"We applaud Gov. Deal for signing S.B. 301 into law and Sen. Fran Millar (R-40) also for his leadership to remove barriers to the state of Georgia using wood for construction of schools. We also commend Steve McWilliams and the Georgia Forestry Association for their hard work in getting this important legislation enacted.
"Wood is a safe, cost-effective, and sustainable solution for construction, as evidenced by the industry's recently released UL-E-verified Environmental Product Declarations detailing wood's environmental footprint. We believe Georgia can only benefit from this move – both economically and environmentally – and encourage other states to do the same."
