  • AWC education director elected first female president of SEAOSC

    LEESBURG, VA. – American Wood Council's (AWC) Michelle Kam-Biron begins her tenure as president of the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC) today, serving for the 2015-16 term. Notably, she is the first female president of SEAOSC since its founding in 1929.

  • OSHA Issues Wood Dust Enforcement Guidance

    The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued more realistic guidance to field inspectors looking at accumulations of wood dust. The new guidance provides explicit instruction on how to address dusts, such as wood, with bulk densities of less than 75 lb/ft3.

  • AWC applauds final BioPreferred Program regulations

    WASHINGTON – American Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Robert Glowinski has issued the following statement regarding the final issuance of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) BioPreferred Program regulations today. The 2014 Farm Bill states that forest products, previously considered to be ineligible because they were "mature market," are now eligible products to be recognized in USDA biobased programs.
