Frequently Asked Questions

What is the NDS supplement and why would I need it?

  • Design Values for Wood Construction (T-02), a Supplement to the National Design Specification for Wood Construction - Tables of design values for structural lumber, glued laminated softwood, and hardwood timbers.

Contains a comprehensive listing of design values including bending, compression parallel to grain, and modulus of elasticity for hardwood and softwood dimension lumber, Machine stress rated and Machine evaluated lumber, decking and glued laminated timber.

Please note that most design values are listed as base design values with adjustment factors listed in each table of the Supplement, which modify design values for size, moisture content, and repetitive member use. More information on design values is contained in the NDS Commentary. WoodWorks design software also incorporates these design values.
