| Engineering and Research |
| AWC Engineering
develops state-of-the-art engineering data, technology, and
standards (like the National Design Specification® (NDS®)
for Wood Construction) on structural wood products for use
by design professionals and building officials, to assure
safe, efficient design and use of wood structural members. AWC
also reviews, coordinates, and conducts research on the structural
and fire performance of wood products, systems, and assemblies
in support of the industry's code and regulatory programs
to faciliate performance-based acceptance of wood products. AWC
also represents the wood industry to many other codes, standards,
and regulatory organizations, and staff are active in the
industry's international effort to remove overseas technical
barriers to the use of wood and wood products. |
